Adsorption of aqueous phosphate on Indian Ocean manganese nodules was studied as a function of time, pH, and concentrations of adsorbate and adsorbent in acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer medium. The adsorption of phosphate follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The adsorption capacities of various manganese nodules for phosphate were correlated with the chemical composition and surface properties. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
