Abstract:
The dielectric constant of isolated and purified lignin, obtained from black liquor, has been evaluated using a high frequency chemical oscillometer. The value of dielectric constant obtained above has been doubly verified by theoretical analysis as well as by an experimental technique. The values determined by all the three methods lie in the range 7.70 - 7.98, having a mean value of 7.86. Although the chemical oscillometer is basically used for the dielectric constant measurement of liquid samples, it has successfully been used for the powdered solid samples.
