Abstract:
This paper examines galvanic interaction of the MnO2-FeS2 couple through polarization and leaching studies. Large galvanic currents, observed between electrodes of this couple, increase further with an increase in H+ concentration of the electrolyte. A kinetic expression, derived for the process by applying the Butler-Volmer equation; explains the trend of experimental results. The paper also examines the effectiveness of galvanic contact during particulate leaching.
