Abstract:
Application of 10 to 500 mg L(-1) GA(3) to shade grown patchouli plants increased the number of nodes, branches, number of green leaves, total leaf area, specific leaf fresh weight, leaf area index, photosynthetic pigment (Chi a, b and carotenoid) contents and oil yield. The plant height, leaf fresh weight and number of yellow leaves were unaffected in the GA(3) treated patchouli plants growing in shade conditions. The optimum concentration of GA; showing promotory effects on leaf growth, pigment contents and oil yield was 250 mg L(-1).
