Abstract:
Extraction of nickel(II) from sulphate solution was carried out using sodium salts of D2EHPA, PC-88A and Cyanex-272(H(2)A(2))) in benzene, the corresponding pH(0.5) values being 6.1, 6.8 and 7.2, respectively The extracted species were determined to be NiA(2) . 2H(2)A(2). The electronic spectra of the 3 nickel-bearing extractants showed that identical species are extracted into the organic phase. The loading capacity of 0.1 M extractant was found out. Detailed investigation pertaining to the influence of various sodium salts on the extraction system was carried out, Synergism was observed with the binary mixtures of the 3 extractants. The extrctants could be arranged in order of increasing synergism as D2EHPA<PC-88A<Cyanex-272.
