A series of Cu substituted LaMnO3(LaMn1-xCuxO3, x = 0-0.8) have been prepared by different methods and characterised. Samples with lower values of x(x less than or equal to 0.06) show a single phase perovskite structure while at higher values of x, the samples contain La2CuO4 and CuO along with perovskite phase. The catalytic activity for H2O2 decomposition and CO oxidation increases with the increase in Cu substitution; attains a maximum at x similar or equal to 0.5 and then decreases with further increase in x. The activity has been correlated with various physico-chemical properties.
