Electrochemical industries are highly energy intensive and the success of such processes depends upon the availability of cheap electric power. In electrolytic production of copper 50% of the energy Is consumed in tank house mainly for maintaining the electrolyte temparature. Generally energy conservation is found to be much simpler and cheaper than energy generation. In this background this paper reviews various factors which contribute to the total energy and suggests suitable measures for energy reduction in copper tank house.
