dc.description.abstract Studies on low-temperature synthesis of alpha-alumina from concentrated solutions of aluminum salt and urea at low temperature are reported. Characterization studies by both physical and chemical means reveal forination of alpha-alumina with density<0.3 g/cm(3), suitable for polishing and grinding use. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
