A low grade manganese ore collected from Joda East Manganese mines of Orissa was subjected to leaching with an indigenous fungal culture, Penicillium citrinum, isolated from the top soil of the same mines. It was found that an extraction of 64.58% of manganese was obtained under the following conditions: particle size, 45 microns: pulp density 2% (w/v): sucrose cone. 10% (w/v): inoculum size 10%(v/v) and duration 30 days. |
