dc.description.abstract Fractorial design methods have been applied for optimizing the roasting condition to convert vanadium present in the vanadiferous titano magnetite ores to sodium vanadate. The different factors such as time, temperature of roasting and percentage of sodium sulphate addition were varied simultaneously unlike the conventional methods. However, these were based on the base level data obtained from routine laboratory experiments. Standard methods were applied to calculate variance, Fischer ratio and the Chi square tests. The upper and lower levels were determined and a few experiments were conducted to optimize the recovery.
