TiC reinforced cast iron composites have been prepared by plasma smelting of ilmenite ore in a bed of steel scrap. The influence of magnesia and zircon coating on smelting hearth on microstructure of composites have been investigated. The composites have been characterized by SEM, EDAX and image analyzer, The paper presents in detail the preparation and characterization of TiC reinforced cast iron composites. |
