Process parameters for the recovery of nickel from solutions containing ammonium sulphate solvent extraction were determined. Employing LIX 84-I as the extractant, nickel was separated to the extent of > 99% in a single stage at phase ratio of 1.0. Nickel was stripped from the organic phase in four counter-current stages at an aqueous: organic phase ratio of 1:3.5 using 100 kg m(-3) sulphuric acid solution to the extent of > 99%. This nickel sulphate solution containing 60-70 kg m(-3) of nickel is suitable for electrowinning/crystallisation etc. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. |
