dc.description.abstract Various aspects of electrochemical phenomena involved during MnO2-FeS2 dissolution in dilute HCl have been examined through concurrent polarization studies of the individual half-cell reactions. Mixed potential (E-m), and mixed current, (i(m)), obtained from intersection of such curves have been analysed to understand the process. An attempt has been made to examine the kinetic expressions derived earlier with the present experimental data. The balancing mechanism for operation of both the couples MnO2/Fe2+ and FeS2/Fe3+ at equal rate is also discussed. (C) 1998 Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
