The extraction of blue peroxy chromic acid from dilute HCl, H2SO4, HClO4 media with 0.013 M trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in benzene was found to be quantitative in the lower range of acidity (similar to 0.02 N). Effect of diluents on the extraction and effect of divergent ions have been studied. The extracted species was found to be CrO(O-2)(2).TOPO. The method has been applied for determination of Cr(VI) in mine water and tannery effluents. |
