Pilot-plant testing and product conveying characteristics
constitute an essential requirement for the reliable design of
pneumatic transportation systems. This paper demonstrates
a standardised-test procedure that has been developed over
recent years for this purpose. Two materials (fly ash, PVC
powder) are considered for this presentation, and particular
aspects include:
a) examples of the three pilot-plant experiments developed
for efficient data collection
b) product conveying characteristics highlighting regions of
unstable transport unstablar
c) transient plots of major conveying parameters.
In conjunction with suggested scale-up criteria, the
standardised-test procedure described in this paper provides
a basis for reliable pneumatic conveying design. |
