dc.description.abstract Although some work has been reported in the literature on the extraction of copper from different copper-bearing sources by the segregation roasting route, studies relating to the kinetics and and the mechanism have been rather limited. There is no universally accepted rate equation for the segregation reaction. An attempt has been made to understand the mechanism of the copper segregation process by means of an isothermal kinetic study based on the evolved gas analysis (EGA) technique. In addition, empirical relationships were established to express the percentage recovery of copper as a function of process parameters determined through the application of a statistically designed experimental procedure.
