A correlation has been proposed for estimating saturated liquid viscosity based on its relationship with vapour pressure. The viscosity at the normal boiling point is related to the chemical structure and with the help of additional parameters - the normal boiling point or the normal boiling point, critical temperature and critical pressure - the data can be extended to temperatures below or above the normal boiling point respectively. The proposed correlation is applicable at temperatures ranging from the freezing point to reduced temperatures to 0.95 and covers a much wider range of liquids than the existing methods. The accuracy of the proposed method is of the same order as that of van Velzen et al. for the low-temperature region and of Letsou and Stiel for the high-temperature region. |
