dc.description.abstract The combination of microwave irradiation and montmorillonite [H+] clay catalyst dramatically enhances the rate of formation of acetates of alcohols, phenols and amines when treated with acetic anhydride. A series of acetates have been prepared with significantly low reaction times in very good to excellent yields.
