Aqueous suspensions of gelatinous precipitates were prepared by mixing solutions of sodium carbonate with iron(II) sulphate, a waste obtained from steel plants, in the ratio Of CO32-/SO42->1. These were subjected to hydrothermal agitation and aerial oxidation at 30, 50, 65 80degreesC. The hydrolysed products were characterized by chemical analysis, particle size distribution, X-ray powder diffraction, thermal analysis and infrared spectroscopy studies. The samples were heated at suitable temperatures, chosen after the results of thermal decomposition, and identified by XRD. |
